Halton Borough Council sign to Trident Amber watch

Halton Borough Council

Halton Borough Council is pleased to support the Amber Watch Alert system. We are one of the first organisations to take advantage of the system to, firstly be part of this great initiative to help in child safety and also to launch their campaign to highlight registered child minding to parents.

Over 400.000 people shop at Halton Lea every week, and everyone who looks after children knows what an awful feeling it is when a child goes missing.   The first 20 minutes of child going missing are the most vital.

This system gives an immediate response to let the public know a child is missing, the amber light above each post lights up to let the public who are either walking or in cars know a child is missing.

The system has been inspired by the American system, which informs motorway drivers of a missing child/person. The system here in Halton is self-funding, 247 outdoor the company who have developed the system in the UK, fund it directly from the advertising revenue from campaigns such as ours to promote registered child minding.

The system also allows the police and local authorities to communicate other warning messages such as terrorist threats, flood warnings and other community threat messages.
