Amberwatch™ Messaging System

Amberwatch™ is a two line secure messaging system, seamlessly integrated into the 6 sheet advertising units which is operated by and at the discretion of the Local Authority.

• 247 Outdoor Ltd provides the Local Authority with unlimited access, free of charge to the LED Amberwatch message system, via a secure website from any internet enabled PC. The Amberwatch system is protected by a security protocol and an audited occupancy trail which is recognised under CPA criteria. The audit provides information regarding who authorised the message, its content, its duration, and when the message was discontinued.
• The messages can cover a wide range of subjects, from community messages, road closures, or civic events through to emergency messages concerning crime, civil matters, flood warnings etc. Response time from the activation of the Amberwatch system takes under one minute, and is typically 20 seconds.
  
  

The inspiration behind the 247 Amberwatch Lightsite, the Amber Plan, was created in 1996 as a legacy to 9 year old Amber Hagerman. To date it has helped find over 100 missing children in America. On the 30th April 2003, President Bush signed the US Protect Act saying... "Amber Alerts have become an increasingly important tool in rescuing kidnapped children, by quickly getting key information about the missing child and information about the suspect out into the public through radio broadcasts or highway signs or other means. An Amber Alert adds thousands of citizens to the search in the crucial early hours." In the UK, the initiative is already in use in areas such as Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire. By joining with the media, local police are able to spread the message to a vast cross-section of the public within moments, appealing for vigilance and to call 999 if they have crucial information. The AmberWatch Foundation is a charity dedicated to the prevention of child abduction and molestation. Through its "Be Safe!" Education Program, the Foundation's mission is to (by the end of 2008) educate 25 million elementary-aged children, and their parents, on how to identify potential endangerment scenarios and stay out of the hands of abductors and predators.
