Ferryhill First!

Ferryhill Town Council became the first Council in the Region this week to introduce new Amberwatch signs.

As well as receiving an income of £2700 per annum the Town Council will be able to use the digital displays on the signs to promote events or even advise the public of current crime problems.

Two signs have been erected in the market place and a third has been installed on the A167 adjacent to Darlington Road.

The Digital display on the signs can be altered within seconds by Council staff over the internet.

Town Council Leader Pat McCourt said...

“we are delighted to have these new signs up and running, not only will they generate an income for the Town Council but the whole community will be able to benefit from the information that can be given out on the LED displays. If for example we have a particular problem with back door sneak in burglaries in the Town we could advise residents immediately to ensure they lock their back doors at all times. Equally we can use them to promote the Friday market or to ask for peoples views on a scheme we are doing as we are at present on the proposed new sports facility”.

Chairman of the Ferryhill Chamber John Allison of Allison’s butchers said...

“I am very pleased that the Council will be using the signs to promote the local shops as this will help the Town Centre to survive into the future”.
