"Britain’s First Lamppost Safety System Unveiled"
Britain’s first lamppost safety system has been unveiled in Walsall as part of a revolutionary safety messaging system to help create a safer borough for its citizens. Amey and Walsall Council worked in partnership to implement the Amberwatch
initiative which communicates “warn and inform” messages through lighting columns across three test locations in Walsall.
Devised by 247outdoor Ltd, the emergency alert system allows urgent safety messages to be relayed instantly to the community and can be used as an important tool for the emergency services. The two line LED messaging system can
allow messages to be posted alerting drivers to incidents affecting their journeys and provide up to the minute information on congestion and road closures. The initiative has commercial benefits for the council. Installations are free and generate funding for the council through advertising revenue gained from advertising units positioned under the emergency messaging display.
Jonathan Bailey, Amey Network Manager for Walsall Street Lighting PFI, said: “This pilot scheme is an example of Amey’s commitment to innovation in its PFI partnerships. As well as providing a first rate safety system to people in the area, the Amberwatch initiative has the added advantage of helping to generate revenue for Walsall Council – money which can be ploughed back into the community. “Amey is pleased to be involved in this partnership and hopes this pilot will be a success, with similar schemes to be implemented across the UK in future.”

"Euro Riley Group's Client, Halton Borough Council are extremely pleased with the service from 247 Media Sales"
Dear David & Warren
I am very pleased with the new Advertising Campaign I currently having running with you at Trident Retail, Halton Lea, Runcorn. 247 Media Sales Ltd have been a great company to work with and despite hold ups on our part, delivered the campaign on time, I found them to be very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. The advertising units around Halton Lea look very effective and are receiving a great response from the public.
I have used the advertising units to launch our Childminding campaign and support careers in childcare. It is a very important campaign for us, so I wanted to use something new and effective, and this was it. The posters are of a very high standard and can be seen clearly from passing cars, pedestrians and shoppers. The added bonus is supporting the AMBERWATCH scheme, highlighting our commitment to child safety.
I will be using your posts for future campaigns.
Thank you
Joanne Glover: Marketing & Publicity Officer, Halton Borough Council.
Over the past few weeks there have been a series of street thefts in the Whitworth area. Teenagers were being stopped, threatened and their mobile phones were taken from them along with other belongings. The police had very little other than a part registration number of the offender’s vehicle. Working closely with Whitworth Council, PCSO Heidi Kirkbright and officers from Rossendale CID retrieved footage from Whitworth Council’s Innovative Amberwatch System whicjh incorporates ANPR cameras at either end of the village. Within minutes the vehicle had been identified and as a result, a man was arrested in the Rochdale Area. It is believed that he has admitted to 9 offences, 3 in Whitworth and a further 6 in GMP and has already been charged.
Karen Douglas, Clerk to Whitworth Town Council said “ We new that what we were installing was a fantastic system, but this has been an unbelievable result. We work very closely with our police partners and it has vindicated our decision to invest in it”
Neil Mackinnon, MD of 247 said “We are very pleased that our system has been key to detecting these offences in Whitworth. We are very aware of what the system can do, and how Councils can benefit from it”

"Using 247 Outdoor has been a great benefit to our Travel business. Having key advertising positions in the high street, where we trade, has really helped us build and develop our brand. We will definitely continie to use their services."
Sue Reid, Deputy General Manager, Co-op Travel Retail
"The Amberwatch scrolling text seems to be working really well for Whitworth; at the most recent Neighbourhood Area Forum, attendance was at an all-time high, with 35-40 members of the public turning up, compared to around a dozen usually! This is in no small part due to the meeting being flagged up on the scrolling text throughout the previous week."
Karen Douglas, Clerk to Whitworth Town Council
